The Irish Saint of Serpents
Visiting the sites showing this wonderful big cathedral made me wonder - what is the difference between a cathedral and the megachurches we see sprouting up everywhere? Turns out a cathedral is the "home church" for the bishop who is boss-man for the diocese. Denominations that are decentralized and don't have bishops (like Baptists) can only have big, big churches. Catholics, Episcopalians (the National Cathedral's denomination), Anglicans and some Lutheran synods have cathedrals. There are over 80 Episcopalian cathedrals in the US!
Here is the third and last part of the Cosmic Void scroll clue. The "Patron Saint of Serpents" circumlocution looks odd, but an internet search seems to confirm that this should be Saint Patrick, who was assigned the role of driving all the snakes out of Ireland. Not what we normally think of a patron saint doing for their clients. But then, there were never snakes in Ireland, it is too fresh from ice age coverage, and too far from Europe to get repopulated quickly.
Anyway! - for now, if we take this as Saint Patrick's day (March 17) we know Washington DC ran on Eastern Standard Time then, which is 5 hours behind UT. Local time works out to be 1506:48 - mid-afternoon, with the Sun still pretty high up in the sky, along with the 'New Moon' (actually described as 'waxing crescent' in the almanac and Starry Night software). Roger has set up a pretty notional situation. Roger probably did not visit the National Cathedral to personally experience this event! - this date was in his future, the Pyramidion disk content was started in March 1991. He was probably already planning his European Sabbatical by then.
We will dig for more notions in this riddle - next time.
