Scribble

And now to the innermost Infinity Jukebox button. After protracted wandering on the internet, I think I have identified this script as being the everyday Tibetan umê script, and the signature block at the end looks to me like the Dalai Lama's various identifications.

Here is an intriguing autograph!

And another, longer example - I think the last line is the date.

And a longer, annotated sample. The description that goes with this is:

“May Stephen Frost’s noble Foundation accomplish as per its wish!

With my prayers,

The Shakya monk (or a monk of Shakya)
Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso

1993"

The first part here is in the more formal uchen script, with his signature in the informal umê.

I have not located the main text yet. Maybe the better way to approach this is to look for the Dalai Lama's canonical sayings, and work backward to them being rendered in Tibetan. A work in progress - after over 25 years! Maybe we will get there eventually.
